Hi there!
Welcome
It's a pleasure to have your kids in my class. Please do come and visit often our class website as this will be our link with what is happening inside the classroom. From time to time I will post here new websites which will help you to get along with your kids, help them to do their homework, read, write and other parents' tips which we all need, after all!
F.I.S.H Book
Please, do make sure that you check your kid's F.I.S.H. book everyday because it's there that you will find any important notes, your child's HW and notebook.
Study Books
The study books are important too! You can check these three copybooks, if you want to know what lessons are following the children in the classroom. In here you will find all the new topics which we tackled and how to go about them. The children can revise from these three copybooks too. Just to refresh your memory:
the yellow copybook is the English Study Book, the blue one is the Maltese Study Book and the red one is the Maths Study Book.
Reading Handout
The children are given a book to read from the class library, every Wednesday. They are to bring it back, together with the reading HW, on the following Wednesday. Please make sure you sign the front page of the reading handout. It would be fantastic if you find time to read together, talk about the pictures and ask questions about the story before they actually do their reading HW. It's a good way of spending some quality time together!
Weekly Story
The children are encouraged to write their own stories, which I hang on the class boards for everyone to see! The theme is changed every two weeks so they have enough time to write some sentences about that particular topic. They can write, draw or find pictures about the subject.
Journal Writing
Every Friday the children engage themselves in a ten-minute free writing activity. I give them the writing prompt and they have just ten minutes to write whatever comes to their mind about that prompt. After this, the children can read their writing to the other children in the class whilst the others give their feedback about that particular child's writing. This helps them to speak and read text infront of an audience and to criticise, in a positive way, their own writings.
PE
The children are to come in their PE kits every Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.
